What are my first graders bringing home?

Some of the first graders may have brought home some pictures that mostly looked like scribbles. We learned about different kinds of lines and the students listened to a story while making the lines however they wanted. They were able to change color for each line. At the end, I let them create their own lines and many of them went the scribble route. So the exercise did have a purpose, they just didn't look like much when they went home.
We also learned about an artist named Jackson Pollock, and your student may have told you that we visited a website www.jacksonpollock.org where the students can use their computer mouse to paint just like him (all the fun, without the mess). I sent them home with a small slip of paper with the web address on it, but included it here in case they lost it.
I let 1B take their pictures home, but I kept 1A's. here are some of them:

Today in class, we talked about a book called "Matthew's Dream" by Leo Lionni. It is about a mouse who has a dream about what he should be when he grows up. In  his dream, he visits an art museum and decides he wants to be an artist when he grows up. We looked at images from the book, then created artwork like his.
