First Grade Dhurrie Rugs

First grade learned about art from India this week. We talked about how a lot of people in India make their artwork by hand and sell it to people to make a living. We looked at Dhurrie rugs from India, which are used just like our rugs here, but are much more decorative. The students used their knowledge about line and pattern to create their own Dhurrie rug out of paper. Here are some of the results.
